Tribit StormBox Micro 2 for 48 ( 32 off): This is the smallest music box on our list, and we like it because it packs serious sound for its size. The audio isn't the highest fidelity, but the rubbery strap is perfect for strapping onto a pack, bike handlebar or elsewhere.

If You Have This Tech Gadget, You'll Love This Other Thing
Add a Stephen King book to your cart? This season, we thought we'd replicate the "You Might Also Like" algorithm feature with a human touch. We've covered kitchen gifts, and now, we're doing tech gadgets. Amazon Smart Plug ($25) A smart plug admittedly sounds like a boring gift, but for a person who already owns and loves their Amazon Echo, this Amazon model is a great addition. It has a simple Wi-Fi set-up and will seamlessly integrate into their system, using either their hub or the Alexa app.

Apple Watch, Google Pixel 3, Amazon Fire TV: Talking Tech's 10 favorite gadgets of 2018
USA TODAY's Jefferson Graham reviews the 2018 year in tech, which includes the most popular apps, binge-worthy TV shows and much more USA TODAY We didn't see every product released -- but we did see, touch and feel a lot of them. Several of the ones mentioned here I went out and bought after I reviewed them -- others I lusted after. Let's work our way from 10 to 1. Unlike smartphones, which hit ridiculous prices in 2018, many topping $1,000, you've got to love what LaCie is selling you for a portable, rugged hard drive. I picked up a 4 terabyte external drive for $150. Two years ago, these drives were 1 TB at best for the same price, and now I've got four times as much room.

Polk Audio Command Bar soundbar review: Good sound, with Alexa at your service
To answer the question posed in the subhed, no, Polk didn't create the Command Bar by taking a hole saw to the middle of its chassis and dropping an Amazon Echo Dot in there. But the feature is unquestionably designed to look like that, and this soundbar does support Amazon's Alexa digital assistant. Soundbars are hot these days, and they run the gamut from sub-$100 cheapies to the ludicrously priced, but wow-it's-impressive Creative X-Fi Sonic Carrier. Polk is going after the better-than-entry-level market with this $300 speaker. That makes it $100 cheaper than the recently reviewed Sonos Beam, and it comes with a nicely matched subwoofer.
In the wake of its IPO, Sonos VP says the company is 'on a cadence of launching two products per year'
As Sonos stock changed hands on NASDAQ Thursday, during its first day as a public company, I spoke with the company's vice president of product management, Chris Kallai, about where the company is headed. Kallai oversees the entire product development process at the speaker manufacturer, working in conjunction with its software engineers and lead designers, as well as Sonos Sound Experience Leader and record producer Giles Martin (son of the late George Martin, the famed Beatles producer). We eased into the interview with a question about Sonos' latest product, the Sonos Beam. "It really hit our goals that we were trying to develop," Kallai said. He was especially pleased about the level of user enthusiasm for the new product.
The Sonos Beam is a great soundbar, but not yet an awesome listener
Ditching a TV remote for simple voice commands sounds great in a lot of circumstances. And, with a little help from Alexa (and some other digital assistants down the road), the Sonos Beam comes as close to executing that as anyone has so far. And while the Beam won't let you toss your clicker just yet, it's still one of the best home audio devices around, even with its $400 price tag. The Beam is the latest in the Sonos series of speakers meant to pull double duty, handling both music as well as the sound that comes from your home entertainment center and TV. It's the smallest and cheapest option in the Sonos lineup to handle that kind of task, sliding in under both the Playbar and the Playbase.
